Name: Sorin Popescu
Country of Origin: Kingdom of Romania (Regatul România)
Gender: Female
Age: 23
Height/Weight: 5'7/135lbs
Hair/Eye Colour: Blackish-brown/Gold
Affiliation: Formally a noble; now a citizen
Job: Mercenary
Appearance: Sorin is a fair skinned, slender, fairly tall young woman with a slender face with a pointed chin and short, slightly wavy dark brown hair that reaches just below her jawline with her bangs parted almost lazily on the right side, usually held back with hair pins or just tucked behind her ear to be dealt with later. The most shocking thing about her psychically is her golden eye color, a feature that is brought out even more due to her pale skin and dark hair. She is all with narrow curves, hidden underneath her two layers of clothing, her chest is almost perfectly flat due to her binding it.
Her primary outfit is a plain white long-sleeved un-tucked dress shirt with the top few buttons undone with a light brown double-breasted vest over it, and a pair of brown slacks and black ankle-high boots. When not wearing pair-pins to keep her bangs pinned back, she usually wears a plain, well-worn, brown page-boy's cap. Underneath the collar of her shirt is a simple silver chain with two rings hanging off the end; one a ring bearing her family's crest, and the other her mother's wedding ring.
Personality:
Being raised in a high-class environment clearly shows itself in the way Sorin speaks; very formally, despite her constant attempts to hide her speech pattern over the years she has been out on her own. Having lived most of her life as a boy, she uses very 'masculine' gestures when speaking or explaining something to someone, and isn't afraid to curse like a sailor should she feel provoked enough to do so.
Another thing that stems from her male-lifestyle is her treatment of women in particular, to members of her same sex she is kind and polite, the 'perfect gentleman' if one chooses to go that far. Because of the superior way she treats and speaks with women, it can be assumed that she is a lesbian; Sorin herself doesn't speak on the matter and will harshly lash out at anyone who asks. Towards men she is a little more casual in her actions and speech, although will still criticize other men when they act especially unruly around her.
From the time she spent outside of the upper-class life of her manor, Sorin had adopted a rather sharp, tongue and a bit of s sarcastic streak to her, she is completely unafraid to speak her mind on a subject she feels strongly for or again, even if her speaking would lead to a bad situation. In that case she is ready to defend herself, with her sword if it ever comes to that point.
Sorin is a big light weight when it comes to drinking, and when she's drunk, however, is an entirely different kettle of fish. When intoxicated, Sorin is silly, loose tongued, and has a tendency to giggle at the smallest joke or at absolutely nothing. She is also a 'violent drunk' prone to punching people for no real reason, more often than not leading to bar fights and her subsequently being thrown out into the streets.
It should also be noted that Sorin is is, by no means, a morning person. Straight out threatening to rip people's faces off if she is woken up too early in the morning, this is mostly the case after a particularly heavy night of drinking.

Dislikes:
-Getting lost
-Restriction
-Obnoxious people
-Being forced into situations
-People mocking her
-People calling her gender confused
Fears:
~Spiders – She was bitten by a poisonous spider in her youth and was bedridden for two weeks with a high fever and nearly died.
~Being forced to go back home and marry – She would much rather marry someone that she chooses; not someone chosen for her. And going back home would no doubt lead to her being married off to the first man deemed worthy.
~Her femininity making her weak – Given her profession and the fact that she is a woman, she sometimes fears that one day she won't be strong enough to fight, or that clients will stop hiring her.
Strengths:
& Loyalty- When she finds a certain person who she feels she can trust, she will be hard pressed to ever let that person go
& Swordsmanship- She was taught fencing in her youth, a custom for boys in their family. Her years of lessons have left her very proficient with a blade.
& Silk-tongued- She knows what to say to get what she wants, particularly out of women who are none the wiser to her real gender.
& Analytical- She is good at assessing the situation and acting accordingly
Weaknesses:
*Temperamental- When provoked enough, Sorin has a wicked temper, in which she doesn't think much if not at all about her actions and words.
*Sarcastic- Her sarcastic and condescending tones have gotten her into trouble more times than she cares to count.
*Easily drunk- As previously state, she is very easy to get drunk. A few drinks and if she's not out like a light, she's probably doing something in an act of drunken stupidity.
*Over sensitive about her past- Despite the fact she feels like she did the right thing in making a path for herself, she often things back to the father she left behind and how he coped with her disappearance.
History:
Once upon a time, Sorin was born into the prestigious Popescu house as the only child to the Count and Countess. The only problem was that she was born female. Her would-be-twin brother and heir to the Popescu House died due to a birth complication, leaving her as the only heir since after the birth, her mother was so stricken with grief and fear of losing another child that she refused to become pregnant again. Deciding to make due, her father masqueraded Sorin as a boy, going so far as to dress her in clothes suiting a young lord and demanding that she keep her hair short at all times. Eventually, however, Sorin's true gender couldn't be hidden for long, and it became apparent as her body changed and developed that the young Lord of the House was in actuality a young Lady. This didn't stop her father, however, as he continued to try and hide her true gender from the world, albeit in a much more lenient fashion. A compromise was eventually made between father and daughter, that Sorin would be allowed to wear feminine clothing while in the manor, however she was required to dress in masculine clothing and bind her breasts whenever she went out or they had guests. Despite the compromise, Sorin, unsurprisingly, felt very out of place when wearing the dresses or gowns her mother had given her, but wore them regardless to make her frail mother happy.
Disaster struck the house when Sorin's mother eventually passed away from an unknown illness when she was 18. Her father was pushing more and more on her to marry and have a proper heir to the Popescu family, and finally Sorin's true gender was revealed to what seemed to be the entire country and before she knew it she was forced to wear her female clothing all the time and was constantly bombarded with wedding proposals, all of which Sorin turned down without so much as batting an eye in some cases.
After nearly a year of this process, Sorin finally enough of her father trying to decide her life for her, and took a small amount of her family's fortune, a few small personal effects and, with the help of the more sympathetic servants, fled the manor and eventually the country, where she began her life as a mercenary-for-hire
Sample/Character Introduction:
Sorin belly-flopped onto the mattress with a groan, she was dead tired from her last job and was just grateful to have a bed to sleep on. Granted, the bed was too stiff and the pillows were ever so slightly lumpy, but that that moment she didn't even care; it was heaven to her. The short haired Romanian considered for a moment to take her two tops off to remove the bindings she still wore over her breasts, since that had begun to rub against her skin, she knew that it would leave yet another uncomfortable raw spot. Then again, taking off her bindings required her to move her arms, and the poor abused limbs wouldn't appreciate that idea. No sir.
Somehow Sorin managed to turn over onto her back and stare blankly at the dark wood of the ceiling beams above her through one eye, her bangs had come loose from their hairpins hours ago and now hung limp and sweaty over her right eye. No one had ever said the life of a mercenary was easy or glorious, and it kept food in her belly (and if she was lucky enough, her reward and savings were able to buy her a bottle of Moldavian wine) so she couldn't really complain. It was be a hired gun or be out on the streets somewhere starving to death.
Briefly, her mind wandered back to her father back in Romania, as it always did whenever she was alone or tired without anything else to occupy her mind. No doubt by now her father had declared her dead, she had been gone for five years, after all. Was she regretting it, maybe a little bit? She could fully admit it was selfish of her to leave her father to u pursue her own ends, but the same could be said about him, right? He only needed her to get married, push a baby out and have it be a boy. Then he would have no more use for her....
Sorin sighed again and turned onto her side; it was best not to think about it and she damn well knew it. Her lingering thoughts might have been die to the family ring she still wore, and several times she had found herself by the sea shore or standing by the port, arm raised and fist clamped around the gold metal, wanting to cast the last part of her past she still hung onto into the ocean. She never could, of course, and always walked dejectedly back to town while replacing the ring back on its silver chain.
Sorin yawned and nuzzled her head into the lumpy pillow, already feeling sleep tug at the edges of her consciousness. Best to sleep and get over it for now, just like she always had.
