There was only the dim light of the rising sun to light the way as the ship ran pulled up to the beach, running around so the crew could make repairs. The damage could not be seen in the lighting but it was there, caused by both the battle and the beating they had taken by the cruel waters and skies of the North Sea. The ship was like something not of the current era, but something far more primitive in a way. It was made for both air and (limited sea) travel, a great metal beast of made of metal and wood, intricate knot work patterns decorating the sides and the bow was shaped like that of a great red sea dragon, mouth frozen either in moment of attack or of it giving a triumphant roar.
Mist from the ocean settled around it, hiding the crew of the ship as they worked, boots crunching against the sand as a few descended, other staying aboard to work on any of the internal structures that had been badly battered. “Captain where are you going?” one of the men shouted out in Danish, as one last figure descended on to the mist laden beach.
The captain grinned, the look as arrogant and youthful as ever despite their defeat. “ I’m going to take a look around.” Mathias replied, “besides you have this covered right?”
A few of the crew shake their heads, before turning back to their work. This was the norm for them every time they landed, their wayward captain looking high and low whenever they landed on the coast to see if he could find hide or hair of his lost ‘brothers“.

The silence was close to frightening to the man all alone in the second floor of the Norwegian Villa. Nikolai sat in his bed, staring blankly at the floor barely batting an eyelash. On his lap was a pink stuffed rabbit, a rather large one, and the young lord seemed to be holding it in an embrace. Although his face was completely stoic, his heart was twisting within his chest.
Finally after an hour or so, once completely sure that it was past midnight and the two in the lower level were asleep, Nikolai stood, leaving the rabbit behind. A blue set of night wear was slipped off to be replaced by a black dress with a pinstriped collar and matching puffy-sleeves. A drawer was opened and a white hat, thick gray stockings, and sleek black shoes. Unfortunately, the shoes would most likely be ruined where he was going but the only other pairs Nikolai could think of other than slippers were all downstairs. This had to be a quick slip out or he would wake the hopefully sleeping Swede. All extras minus the shoes were slipped on, a scarf also grabbed in case the young man were to just fall asleep on the beach again.
A careful turn of a handle, opening the Nordic's door and shutting just as quietly and carefully. Slipping down the stairs, Nikolai was slightly hesitant to just slip out for his own selfishness. At least...he could leave a note. That way he wouldn't completely go against his 'mother's' orders. A rapid search for parchment and a quill, the simple note 'I'll be fine.' was written and left upon the kitchen table. Continuing on his escape, Nikolai managed to slip out the main door without waking anyone so far. He placed his shoes onto the ground, slipped them on, and darted into the nearby forest, taking a shortcut he knew would lead to the beach from the day before.
About an hour passed, dawn already gracing the sky. Nikolai had made it just a bit away from the shore. He could hear the waves and...voices. His heart sped up as he snuck through the green of trees and bushes, tripping over a loose branch and in turn, collapsing to the ground. The man was completely hushed and eyes wide as they've been in years, just staring... It was there. A ship. He didn't care what ship. It was a ship.

This place, Mathias had been to this place before, or some where similar. After a while all the coastlines of the area ran together until they were on solid entity and the last barrier between him and the land. Willingly though he crossed it, leaving the shouts of the men behind and heading into the forest that lined that began where the beach stopped. The chill on land to him was so much more lonely then the one you got from the spray of the sea, and he shivered slightly, humming the melody to a song he had heard while growing up a few of the lyrics escaping in his native tongue as he doubled back.
“It was a Saturday night I sat and waited for you, it was a Saturday night I sat and waited for you, you promised me to show but you came not to me! You promised me to show but you came not to me!” he murmured, the reds and blacks of his clothing doing little to hide him from the view of anyone who might be watching the beach line.
Normally he would have roamed farther and longer then that but something seemed to pull him back to the water’s edge, accompanied by a strong sense of something about this place was beyond just a little familiar.

Nikolai just remained in the spot for moments which turned into minutes. His face displayed probably the most emotion he'd shown in years, hope. Crystal Blue eyes were widened with his more hanging slightly open while all he managed to hear from the people on the ship were random shouts. Danish. These were Danish pirates. Could this have been the ship? The one which kept him from his younger brother?
All sense escaped the man's head, feet slowly finding the ground underneath them and as if in a trance, Nikolai headed toward the ship. Mildly concealed but even without the trees, hopefully no one would take notice. None of these crew members looked familiar to him. Even after all these years, the young lord was able to remember the faces of those on the ship but why couldn't he place names on these people? That should have made the thought 'Maybe this isn't the ship.' pop into his head. The only thing going through his thick skull, however, were plans on how to get in without being discovered. His outfit made him stand out enough so that would prove a bit difficult.

This was the ship, but in the time they were separated, many had died or had left when the leadership had changed hands, and Mathias was the one put in charge. The young man was reckless, charging into battle without a second thought and in a way it caused many problems, like the lose of the young man he had kept aboard. That was his last link to the ‘brothers’ he had lost and now even as he searched, his disregard for himself grew.
The mist was finally clearing, meaning with the repairs done or not, now would be a good time to shove off. As he made his way back towards the crew and his ship, that chill hit him again. Someone was watching them, someone knew they were they where and what they were. He whipped around eyes scanning the area in the dim lighting, shoulders and back stiffening in response.
He murmured to one of the passing crew, not fully rising the alarm but still giving the order for everyone to pack up and be ready to shove off. Behind him, the ships engine gave a loud roar that sounded like it was coming from the belly of a dragon and steam started seep from the bow of the ship.

Nikolai's heart sped up as he heard the noises and saw as everyone begin to return to the boat. It was now or never. He grabbed the bottom of his dress and pushed it into his legs so that it looked like a pair of puffed-up pants, moving with the crew that was outside the ship until the shore was getting closer and closer. The man was small enough so none of the larger members he was hiding behind honestly took notice.
Heart in his throat, Nikolai took the first step back to his past. His brain was coming up with every logical reason to not get on the ship but the rest of his body was in a trance, not following any orders at all. It was just...too unreal. The crisp breeze blowing against his face, the sound of many people all around him, the smell of...beer. It always smelled like beer in the past but he had learned to live with it. The young man was practically hypnotized by the nostalgia, not taking notice to almost anything that could be of harm to him.

This place this feeling was all to familiar. The feeling of eyes on him, a quiet gaze that had some intensity to it but seemed blank or distant if you didn’t really know was going on. The tall blond shook his head, the fuzzy memories coming back much clearer then they had before. He didn’t want to remember though, not until he could find the owner of those eyes again.
He didn’t see the young man who was sneaking aboard, paying more attention to getting up inside the ship it’s self in case there was someone out there with less then helpful intentions. The ship jerked and roared as the engines kicked in at almost full power, slowly backing away from the shore as the last few stragglers climbed aboard.

Nikolai didn't want to allow himself to be completely caught up in the moment. He had to be officially on the ship after it sets sail before he can even allow himself to be caught. Once again having to adjust his skirt for swifter movements, the man slipped and ran through crowds and acting as a shadow to some taller, more better built men in order to get so an old hiding place he prayed was still there.
And it was. A collection of beer barrels cast off into the corner of the deck. They might be different barrels but thank the heavens this crew is just as lazy as the last. Nikolai jumped over one, taking shelter in the center of the pile. Unfortunately, he has grown over the years but as for the good news, the blond was still as scrawny as ever. Once in place, the lord finally began to feel a bit of lag on his body. Guessing his tiredness had finally caught up, Nikolai curled up on the hard wooden surface. Allowing himself to fall asleep, the Norwegian knew that in a matter of moments, even if he was caught, he would finally be home.

It wasn’t a matter of lazy, not to Mathias anyway but it was a matter of not having the time to move everything about. That had use the cover of the mist and the dim lighting to move to a different location before they could settle and start one the repairs again. At least the engine was fixed, something that had been weighing on the captain’s mind the most.
As they move, the man start to shuffle around again as the panic subsides. No shots had been fired and from what they could see from the deck. No one was following them, at least not to the degree it would be an issue. With that blanket of relief, things began to be moved, look and weapons being shifted back to their proper area of storage when there. There a scrap of wood against the deck as the barrels carrying their supply of water was moved and then a shout of alarm.
Mathias heard the call of stowaway, and rushed over, ready to deal any problems, but instead was greeted by the sleepy figure of his former navigator, and brother. “Nikolai?”

The shout from a crew member startled the sleeping Nordic awake, sending him shooting up in place and nostalgic fears through his mind. The old fears of being punished for abandoning work duties or hiding on the upper desk clouded his thoughts as he gazed around at the few that took notice to his presence. One stood out in particular. His name was called by this person, an old friend of his. A 'brother' even.
"Mathias...?" Is what he would've replied with if he wasn't frozen in place behind the barrel. The worries of hopping on the wrong ship were lifted but at the same time, the blond felt as if someone had a tight grip on his heart. It just hurt all of a sudden. Nikolai finally got part of what he wanted by seeing the older man but at the same time, his constant fear loomed over. Egil. If he received the same answer from the Dane as he did from Berwald... no... he came this far and the man needed something that died a long time ago. Hope. It would help if he would quit staring and actually speak , though.

The blank look and the stare he knew those, to well unfortunately. They were the prelude to something akin to a tongue lashing or him be chided for something stupid he had attempted or done . His heart raced in his chest as Mathias rushed forward scrambling to embrace the other and knocking over things in the process much to the crew’s disgust , a torrent of words coming in out in Danish, the guttural language sounding surprisingly chipper .
“Oh God it is you!” a brother, a companion that didn’t want his head on a pike was here. He never giving up on that slim chance that the others could be found on the coastline of the north.

The embrace caught the smaller of the two off-guard, shoving the other away on reflex once his mind caught up with him. Nikolai scrambled back a bit, face unfortunately frozen in place. Just like always, it was almost impossible to tell what was going through the man's mind. Lips were as straight as a perfect line and his breathing was perfectly paced, not short breathed at all. However, if you knew well enough to look in his eyes for true emotions, The crystal blue orbs were trembling, tears could even be forming if it wasn't so cold.
"I...can't believe an idiot like you is still alive." That was the only close to nice thing Nikolai could manage out. All these years he'd been looking for Egil, completely forgetting about this man. He remembered how he tended to lash out at the Dane if he were to pull this stuff around the crew he'd had partial control over back during his days on the ship. The only thing that has changed in the setting is the small fact one was now in woman's clothing.
